Occupational Safety Card in Finland – Industries and Practices
In Finland, the Occupational Safety Card is a widely used voluntary safety training – but in many sectors, it has become practically mandatory. It demonstrates basic safety knowledge and facilitates working on shared sites with multiple employers.
Common Industries and Card Requirements:
- Construction (including infrastructure): Practically mandatory on all worksites
- Industry (metal, forest, chemical): Commonly required, especially in factories and production areas
- Shipbuilding: Strictly required for all workers on shipyards
- Transport and logistics: A general requirement in ports, terminals, and shared logistics environments
- Energy production: Strongly recommended or effectively mandatory, especially at power plants and energy project sites
