Duration

The online course lasts approximately 1.5 hours. In addition to the theoretical content, the course includes a final exam to assess participants’ knowledge. This is a basic-level course (Level 1).

What is diisocyanate training?

In accordance with the European Commission’s decision, the use of diisocyanates requires training in line with the restrictions set out in the REACH Regulation. The aim of this training is to prevent health risks caused by diisocyanates and to improve workplace safety.

Training on diisocyanates is mandatory for all employees who handle these substances or may be exposed to them in the course of their work. This applies to those working directly with the substances as well as their supervisors, laboratory staff, maintenance and cleaning staff, and health and safety representatives and experts. In addition, external contractors and subcontractors must also undergo training if their work takes place in areas where diisocyanates are used.

Training is of great importance, as handling diisocyanates without the appropriate expertise can cause serious health hazards, such as skin irritation, breathing difficulties and allergic reactions. Through comprehensive training, employees learn safe working practices and ways to prevent exposure. In this way, companies can reduce the risk of accidents and protect the health of their employees.

The content of the diisocyanate training covers all the necessary information and practical guidance required to work safely. The training is based on Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/1149, which has been incorporated into the REACH Regulation (EU) No 1907/2006. In accordance with this Regulation, the use of diisocyanates in industrial and professional settings without training is prohibited. This ensures that all employees are aware of safety practices and know how to act correctly in the event of a hazardous situation.

Objectives of the Di-isocyanate training course

The aim of the training is to ensure that employees understand the principles and practices of the safe handling of diisocyanates and are able to apply them in their work.

The aim is:

• be able to identify diisocyanates, their properties, applications and health and safety implications
• be able to identify the risks associated with handling diisocyanates and know how to manage those risks
• learn how to use personal protective equipment correctly, ensure proper ventilation in the workplace, and follow cleaning procedures.
• be able to act quickly and effectively in emergency situations, such as spills, incidents involving contact with others, or exposure to diisocyanates, in order to protect themselves and others
•  to learn to communicate openly and effectively about the risks and safety issues associated with di-isosyanates in the workplace. The aim is to create an open atmosphere in which employees can report any problems or safety risks they observe.

Certificate and card
