Course content

• Providing assistance in the event of an accident or medical emergency
  • What should I do first?
  • Ensuring safety and making an emergency call.
• The basics of first aid
  • The most urgent measures to maintain breathing and circulation.
• First aid for an unconscious person
  • Checking for unconsciousness, turning the person onto their side, clearing the airways.
• Basic life support (CPR)
  • The stages of resuscitation and the use of a defibrillator.
  • Practical exercises using resuscitation manikins.
• Foreign body in the airways
  • The Heimlich manoeuvre and back blows for adults and children.
• Circulatory failure (shock)
  • Signs of shock and first aid.
• Wounds
  • Cleaning, dressing and applying a pressure bandage.
• Medical emergencies
  • The most common medical emergencies (diabetes, epilepsy) and first aid for them.
• Burns and electrical injuries
  • First aid for burns and electrical injuries.
• Joint injuries and fractures
  • Practising splinting and administering first aid correctly.
• Poisonings
  • Recognising the symptoms of poisoning and first aid.
• Defibrillator training
  • The correct use of a defibrillator and practice in a simulated scenario.

Certificate

Those who complete the course will receive an official certificate of successful completion.

It is recommended that at least 70% of staff complete this training to ensure that the workplace’s first-aid capabilities are always up to date.
